Earlier this week, we received a job request for a handyman in south London. Elisha in Sutton needed help putting up her Christmas lights at the top of her house, and this got us thinking about festive displays... So we’ve taken a look around the country, and have found some of the best lighting displays on show this year! Can you beat these?
For 23 years now, brothers Lee and Paul Brailsford have been decorating their mum’s house and attracting bigger and bigger crowds to their Christmas lights ceremony. Last year, the boys attracted more than 2,000 people to watch their flicking of the switch.
The display is so large scale that they need to apply to the council in July for permission and it takes them several weekends to install the 55,000 lights. Sadly, they announced that this year’s showcase will have the last official ceremony, though they will still continue to decorate the house every Christmas!
Whilst most homes compete against each other for the best displays, neighbours in Trinity Close in Burnham-On-Sea are working together to create the best cul-de-sac lighting show in the UK to raise money for charity.
Having raised more than £72,000 in donations over the last 10 years, this neighbourhood will continue to illuminate for a good cause!
However, this year he decided to make an addition; amongst the lights he hung charity boxes for admirers to make donations. He is raising money for both Breast Cancer Now and Acacia Family Support, and with people constantly passing by, he is bound to raise an impressive sum this Christmas!
Proving that age really is just a number, pensioner Eamon Enright spent two months installing his lights which attracted a mesmerized crowd. The 74 year-old has been putting on an annual Christmas display for more than 40 years now, with it growing a little bigger every year!
The impressive display surrounds and covers his property and i includes an inflatable snowman along with a singing Santa and dancing Santa.
