Mesut Ozil

Arsenal fans will be delighted to find out that star midfielder Mesut Ozil has bought a new £10m home in Highgate, giving him a firm base to continue his career with the Gunners.

There has been a great deal of speculation that Ozil, who is currently Arsenal’s highest paid player, will be moving to another club when his contract expires in 2018. With his new purchase, it would seem that he is planning to be involved with the club for the long haul.

“He’s definitely moving in, but we haven’t seen him yet,” a prospective neighbour told The Sun.

Ozil’s new north London property features six bedrooms and three bathrooms, one of which offers a wall mounted TV opposite the toilet. For more stylish viewing, Ozil can head down to the home cinema room.

The Highgate house has six reception rooms, as well as an amply sized dining room, a wine cellar, modern kitchen, bar and state of the art security.

Security is an important feature for Premiership stars and their families; when Wayne Rooney's mansion was broken into back in August, the police were on the scene in a matter of minutes thanks to the striker's top-notch security setup.

“Someone told me they do that normally when footballers sign a contract with the club, they go from renting to buying,” the neighbour continued. “So it could be good news for Arsenal.

“We know the people in the house have sold and have moved out so he should in any day now.

“Ozil is a quiet guy though, I hope. It makes sense for him though the training ground is just down the road.”

The midfielder will not be the only star in the area. Many are attracted to the wealth, charm and class of Highgate; other famous residents include George Michael and Noel Fielding, as well as fellow Gunners Laurent Koscielnyr and Per Mertesacker, to name a few.
