Wayne Rooney is preparing to move his family into a custom £20m mansion, built entirely from scratch!

The Manchester United legend’s newest home is currently being built on a 40 acre Cheshire plot which he purchased this year.

Professional footballers have a habit of going all out when it comes to buying property. It even seems like young Spurs midfielder, Dela Alli, is preparing to move into the property game when he retires. While David Beckham still sets the standard, it seems that 31-year-old Rooney, who reportedly earns £300k a week, could be catching him up.

Rooney, wife Coleen and their three children, currently live in a £5m mansion. Despite the property’s security systems, it suffered a break in last year which seems to have left an impact on the family.

“Wayne and Coleen have been living at their current place for years, and feel it is time for a change,” said a source close to the family. “Understandably, the burglary scare also really shook them – poor Coleen has been nervous to even let the kids play outside as a result.”

Although Rooney bought the plot this year, plans for the mansion were originally submitted in 2014. They were eventually approved following an environmental survey to decide whether the build would endanger the local protected bats or great-crested newts.

At £20m, the new mansion’s value will be a quarter of Rooney’s estimated worth. The three-storey property will feature an indoor swimming pool, a six-car garage for the former England captain’s sports cars, and a stable block with space for 14 horses.

Taking the lift downstairs (the guest lift, rather than the separate one which will be for the family), visitors will find a private gym, ten-seat cinema room, wine cellar, snooker room (complete with bar), steam room and a plunge pool.

Upstairs, the master bedroom will feature its own private changing room. Each bedroom in the mansion will be ensuite, though there will also be a guest loo downstairs.

Rooney has a history of constructing luxury homes. The family’s current property, ‘Wayne’s World’, was built after he had the plot’s original mansion demolished.

“The new mansion will have every mod con going, in addition to being one of the most secure and architecturally advanced homes in the North-West,” the source continued. “They can’t wait to move in, and become a part of the community.”
