Research Plus Design
A contemporary family home on a steeply sloping site in Cornwall with
stunning coastal views. Design to incorporate views, the landscape,
and indoor pool.
It's all focused on the hill and the entrance. From the entrance, the
landscape moves under the house and visitors can see and feel the
whole hill. There is a visual connection from the entrance , through
the house to the upper garden. The main living space is an extension
of the plateau that occurs at the top of the hill. The orientation
and volume of the swimming pool connects with the horizon and the
The masonry/concrete structure is used creatively to provide a
trombe wall to assist heating the home. A system of adjustible and
removable louvers to aid ventilation and cooling were explored.
