This project was outside the local development boundary, but a case was successfully made for this high performing residence to be built as an exception to the local planning policies. The design was rooted in its location with a clear aesthetic connection to the adjacent farm buildings and a low carbon strategy was adopted, hence planning permission was granted. The completed dwelling has achieved an A rated EPC, which is the highest available grading. The property boasts very low u-values in all building elements, far beyond the requirements of the building regulations and has achieved a 70% reduction in air leakage when compared to the regulatory requirements. MVHR has been installed along with photovoltaics and air source heat pump.
